CAT owners might want to head down to Aldi next week as it's launching an adorable Halloween playhouse for your feline friends.

The "Heart to Tail Trick-or-Treat Playhouse" costs just $7.99 and includes catnip and two 9.5-inch x 11.25-inch scratching pads.

The purple-roofed house is decorated with spooky ghosts and pumpkins, which are guaranteed to get you into the spirit of Halloween.

If Halloween isn't your thing, then you can buy the "Autumn Playhouse" which is the same price and size and comes with the same accessories.

But instead of a ghostly decor it features a green house draped in fall plants that are shedding their golden leaves before winter.

And if your pets prefer a bit of action rather than curling up for a nap in a box, Aldi is also launching new Autumn and Halloween-themed activity boxes.

These have a scratching board as the top surface, plus a feather toy, catnip, and three balls with bells in, which moggies can push into holes on the top of the box.

You'll be able to pick up the treats in store at Aldi from 10 to 15 October but bear in mind that they might not be available in all stores.

There are thousands of Aldi stores in the US and it might be worth calling ahead to check if your local one has the items in stock. Use Aldi's store locator tool to find your nearest.

One shopper wrote: "Marley needs a Halloween house!!", while another added: "I've been looking for one of these!!!!"

Someone else said: "I still have a Christmas one from last year. My cats love it!!" But another shopper warned: "I was just wondering today if these would be back! The ones from last year did not survive very long!"

Aldi's range is $9.01 cheaper than Target's mini haunted house for kitties, which costs $17 - although unlike Aldi's its version has two levels and you can buy it online.

Amazon sells a similar spooky scratcher for $17.70 (£14.12) but this one is smaller than the Target version.

Hopefully you will have an easier time dressing up your pet for Halloween than these owners did at Christmas time.

And if you're a fan of all things spooky, a house full of scarily decorated trees is trending online.
